Its More Than Just A Game!

Football is one of Americas Favorite sports to watch and play. There so much more to football than just watching it or playing it though. I have witnessed communities brought together through all their love for the same team. I have seen people come from nothing and make it to the big leagues playing college or professional football. I have felt the best relationships start and thrive because of the interest we have in football. I had the opportunity to play on the best team to ever come through Dunlap. Two years ago, was a year of greatness for our team. We broke every record set for our high school, we preformed higher than everyone thought we could, and we went to play in the state championship. During that season our Dunlap community supported us like nothing I had seen before. Our stands were packed for games and everyone was involved. The energy and excitement made us play to our very best and caused a lot of success. Even within school I saw more integration among students because everyone wanted to be a part of our success somehow rather it was cheering us on or playing with each other on the field we truly created something special in our town. So football can change communities, it also can specially change lives. There is no better feeling than accomplishing your dreams. Well, football has made many dreams come true. I played with two friends that season that wanting nothing more than to play Division 1 football after their senior season at Dunlap and both of them ended up getting a scholarship that changed their circumstances and life forever. Maybe after their time is up in college they can make it to professional football were everything will impact your life again in a positive way. The gift people are giving to play football has made some athletes such as Ray Lewis come from rags to riches. Ray was once not able to feed his family and now he has enough money to buy anyone in his family what hey need and throw more money around for them. This sport can do great things to people and help peoples lives. Football has even changed me personally. Without football I truly do not know where I would be. Football helps me keep my mind on the right thing. I worry about my grades to make sure I can play. I study my plays which helps keep me focused. Practice keeps me in shape, and football keeps me out of trouble while giving me something fun to do in the meantime. I have made so many relationships through this amazing sport. It truly is more than just a game. It is a lifestyle. It is a game that has its ups and downs but also makes life better.
